Tbilisi Court of Appeals postponed 17May2013 case trial till February 23

Hearing of May17th 2013 case at Tbilisi Court of Appeals has been postponed till February 23 at 15:30. As another hearing was scheduled at 16:00 , the applicant's opening statement against Irakli Basilaia, Tital davrishiani, Beka Salukvadze and Giorgi Basishvili was heard only partially.

The abovementioned citizens had been excused by Tbilisi City Court On October 23, 2013. Prosecution spoke about circumstances of the committed crime and accused the Clergy of violently obstructing the peaceful demonstration on the International day against Homophobia and Transphobia on May 17th 2013.

Hearing of opening statements of both sides in Tbilisi Court of Appeals will be continued on 23 February, 2016. After hearing of both sides, Amicus Curiae will be delivered by EMC ("Human Rights Education and Monitoring Center").

On 17 May, 2013 on the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia the LGBT activists' meeting was violently obstructed. A crowd of several thousand charged a small gathering of gay rights activists, demanding to ‘punish the sinners,’ and nearly thirty people were injured in the clashes, including journalists.
