A New multimedia project Long Way Home has been added to WISG's mutimedia platform WISG STORYTELLER.
The works of five authors gathered around this project focus on queer migration. We’re also sharing a 2024 study Otherness and the Cost of Promised Freedom: A Study on Queer Emigration from Georgia that looks at the preconditions and decisions of emigration, difficulties of adapting in a receiving country and the loss or rediscovery of a sense of home. We also speak about what it feels like to stay in Georgia when so many have already left, are leaving now, or will leave soon.
These authors don’t try to romanticize either leaving or staying. What matters more to us is the connective tissue, the shared struggles, the resentment and the joy that, despite the distance between points on a map, often bring us very close to one another.
The multimedia platform was presented at Feminist Film Festival From Rosa to Simone. This year's program was dedicated to the topic of migration. You can check the project here.
