“According to The World Health Organization decision July 28 is World Hepatitis Day. Approximately 200 00 people live with hepatitis C in Georgia. Treatment of the disease costs more than 20 000 Gel and the majority of patients cannot pay this amount. Many of them had been infected 10 or more years ago and today their treatment is urgent and necessary” – is said in press release of “Georgian Harm Reduction Network”.

The network plans to organize a campaign which aims to make list of people waiting for treatment and demand from the state to launch the pilot program of treatment.

On July 28, in Tbilisi, Gori, Zugdidi and Batumi press conference and round table meetings are planned.

Nearby Parliament building on 5 PM street action will take place: It will be the symbolic walk where patients and activists will participate. Near the finish of the walk the signatures for treatments waiting list will be collected.
